I think you can purchase some type of firmware that will allow it to play ps2 games

No one knows. The firmware in question was a roumer leaked by Sega of all companies...And in theory, it should apply to all PS3 models, regardless, if true.

Considering all the PS3's run the same firmware, how couldnt it! :P
Hope this happens soon, mind you, i can just dust off my PS2 if i want to play those games.
