Hey all I was going to upgrade my video card for Aion. Here are my specs:

Phenom II X3 720 2.8

Asus M4a79T Deluxe mobo (crossfire capable)

850w Corsair PSU

4g ram

Windows XP

I'm currenly running with a 9800GTX+ that I bought last year, but I'm dropping down to thirty frame rates when PvP events start happening... and getting some dragging. I was thinking about buying two 4850's. Does that sound like an OK upgrade?

dont buy old tech! get the new ati 5000 cards, out now. the 5870 is great or 5850 or the new nvid cards when they are out (may be a while)
you'll be dx 11 ready and shader 5.0 ready they are fast, quiet and use little power

The 5770 costs about the same as the 4870 and perform similary, if you're on a budget. Dont know what type of game Aion is..but if it's online, the problem might also be that your internet connection is too slow for heavy pvp.

It could be my internet connection.

I looked into the 5850 once, but it's 259... a little steep for me for two cards. I will check out the 5770 though, thanks for the tip!

OK I'm looking at the 5770 and it's a good price, but I'm wondering if the 128bit will make a difference or what. Is it really that big a deal?

just buy one 5850 its on par with a gtx 285

newegg is out of them, guess i'll check around for one.

newegg lists stock round 12 00 am and i think amazon still had some

It's not your net connection. Before the nvidia driver update enabling SLI for that game, I was dropping into the 30s/40s with my 8800gtx (around the same as the 9800gtx).

Definately go with a single 5850 or preferably a 5870.. A 5870 would be much better than two 4850s, and you could add another one later down the road if you felt like you needed to.
