i need to know the version of my DirectX because i need to install some updating patches

go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 click on dxdiag (blue icon with a yellow x) then you will see all the info on the bottom line

click on the Start button on the taskbar
in the Run, Find or Search box type
dxdiag
it may take a minute to come up
look at the System tab
you should also click on the Save button and save as a text file somewhere, then open the text file in notepad and give it a look
