I posted a while back about a problem with XP trying to install " PCI standard memory controllers ". I had upgraded to a SATA drive and was trying to get it to work, updating bois and drivers, since when the PCI problem started. SATA drive is now no more, its place taken by a less fiesty IDE drive, but still the PCI problem is there. It caused no problems that i was aware of, so i disabled the 5 PCI memory tabs in Device manager and carried on, happy now everything was working again. You see the PCI problem was that every tiem windows tried to install them it showed a progress bar and then " PCI standard memory controller " with under it " Error installing , the data is invalid".
Now i got bitten by the update bugg again, and upgraded my old doddering GeForce 4600 Ti with ...... a GeForce 6800 GT mmmmm, and yes i did have to upgrade my PSU to a 460w one.
Now my problem is that though i try to install the drivers for this piece o meat, the card wont respond to it, AND when i start up, i get XP trying to install it then " There has been an error while installing " " The Data is Invalid "
I wasnt quite sure where t post this, so, here it is. If anyone is lookin for a problem t get on with, i had a windows expert lookin into the last PCI memory problem and the sata prolbem, niether of which were sorted, not avin a go at them, the were very helpfull.... but didnt help lol.
So any ideas? Thanks
