I'll tell u what i think, correct me if im wrong anyone. Generally Gigabyte have a reputation for stability, they tend to stay on the safe side and sacrifice a bit of speed. Asus on the other hand tend to strive for the title of fastest mobo, and therefore are quicker, a bit more pricey and not quit as reliable as gigabyte. Now more MSI, i tend to think they take the middle road in these respects. I like MSI, because they make good video card and i know people who buy them over Asus. They are all good brands though and i think it would come down to the individual boards and the features they offer, along with price.

If he doesn't die, he'll get help!!!

I have the MSI 865PE FIS2R Neo2, and I would recommend it. The board is loaded with just about everything you could want, and the onboard sound is very good.

The hard drives: are they serial ATA interface? If they are its worth, getting two of them and taking advantage of the raid array.

It has more USB 2 ports then you will ever need, as well as two firewire sockets. 5.1 sounds are supplied on an optional bracket.

The only thing I noticed was there was no modem socket. Therefore, if you are using a 56K dial up, you have to buy a modem. In addition, the software especially 'core centre' is a waste of time.

A.) Look at 865PE chipset mobos...like the cheaper and faster (on paper) Asus P4P800 (instead of the p4c800)

B.) There are a lot of these posts on this board...maybe someone should write a permanent guide for p4 mobos...maybe not

I'm just your average habitual smiler =D
