I got the demo version to run under XP. Are your OpenGL drivers okay? I've heard those can cause problem with XP and HL.

Check out this forum if you need more help. I think it's gone over the problem before.

Go to www.fileplanet.com and download:

This is the latest patch to the full version of HL. I have always gotten HL to run under both version of XP, with or without the patch. Hope this helps you out.

No doubt eh? I been running Half-Life on my computer through Win98, XP Home and XP Pro. No problems ever.

It should run fine on XP. I have three machines that run Half-Life on XP.

The latest Patches should be fine.

If it is a Glide issue, you can use <A HREF="http://evoodoo.emulation64.com/us/products.html" target="_new">eVoodoo's</A> glide emulator for D3D.

What video card are you using?

How are you running it? (aka what video mode?)

Software, OpenGL, or D3D?

You have the latest patch and drivers? (Correct?)

If you don't, install them. If you do... contact ATI. Their driver guys like to know of any and all problems with catalyst and any other driver issues.

Just so I have you correct. What does the game say when you try playing. What kind of screen do you get? Or does it not load? Does it freeze? etc. Give the typical details.

Another question: Did you have problems during the install?

I have played HL on three different WinXP Prof boxes.

I have managed to get it working, but my intention was to play over LAN. I can't get it to work as it says trying to authenticate with WON servers when it loads up. It does not enter the game it just stays on the loading up screen with this message!

Do any of you have any ideas?

The lastest path is v1.1.1.0. There has been talk of a new patch, but it has yet to come out. Maybe they are going to release it with Half-Life 2...
