the gpu cpu and monitor should be high on your list for the best you can get.
the hd and memory do not have much impact, if u get 800mhz ram and spend more on the above unless the price differance is little.
in saying that .......
well i would get a better gpu. 1 of the 5700 ati cards
which monitor do u have?

That is a good setup to run games and especially for 800$. The 9600 GT outperforms my hd 3870 512mb. One thing that I noticed though is a lot of people like to run their resolution through the roof while I keep mine at 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600 and i get like 75 frames on company of heroes maxed, crysis on high got me right at 30 frames with high settings 2x anti aliasing, at 800 x 600, but then again i have a really old cathode ray tube monitor, 17". I also have the 940 BE at 3711 with four gigs of ddr2 1066 ram. A friend of mine also confirmed that the 9600gt is a pretty decent card but i would look at the gts 250s, from newegg, they perform just a lil bit better.
Phenom IIx4 925 2.8GHz (couldn't find the 910 on newegg. this performs better anyway)
