gigabyte mb not detecting ide channels 1 3 4 help!

hey everyone wondering if someone knows something i cant figure out...

i have a ga-7n400 pro series nforce2 mb with 512mb geil ddr, 5200fx grx card, 1800+xp, and a new maxtor hd. now everytime i boot up i cant get the damn mb to recognise anything on my ide channels 1 3 4...2 works but its limited somehow and even if i try to boot into xp setup it wont and just throws me some dumb error.....

i feel like ive done everything in the bios, settings, flashed it, cleared cmos, switched out parts to eliminate variable problems...and it seems to be the mb....im not expecting a clear anwer from you just wonrdeing if you had the same problem and maybe what i could try,,thanks

you have all your jumpers set up correctly?

are you using round ide cables?

Are you using old ide cables?

Also can you give more system info (hard drive...optical drives...memory blabla)

Have you checked that the power connectors to the hd's are indeed supplying power, I would pull power and ribbon cables and re attach.

Did you set up the raid function in the bios and tell it how to use the drive on ide 3?

Ive just this week connected an 3rd hd to ide3, enabled the raid controller in bios, booted int windows and loaded the driver, rebooted, thats it. I did have to re open the case today because the power to my d dirve vanished, pulled cables and power and reconnected no problem

don't worry about it man...we settled it over aim...the board was grounded to the case...now everything is up and running and the short has been fixed...

you're not asking me are you...i have never even touched that board...he hadn't installed the os when we last talked so i am not really sure how he is likin' it...
