Looking to you helpful bunch for some clarification as the CSR (at store)
I spoke to didn't "help" me any...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Both are for 500 Monthly airtime minutes

Option 1

Plans with IN-Network Calling on all lines

Line 1: Free IN-Network calling Plus Unlimited Night & Weekend Home Airtime
Minutes $59.99
Additional Lines: IN-Network Calling PLUS Unlimited Night & Weekend Home
Airtime Minutes $20.00

Option 2

Promotional Plans - Plans with IN-Network Calling on primary line and
between Family SharePlan lines on the account

Line 1: Free IN-Network calling Plus Unlimited Night & Weekend Home Airtime
Minutes $49.99
Additional Lines: Unlimited Family Calling Plus Unlimited Night & Weekend
Home Airtime Minutes $20.00

And while I am at it, am I wrong to assume that any verizon subscriber can
make a call to another verizon
subscriber at no cost?

ONLY *IF* you have nationwide In-Network mobile to mobile calling.
The first plan does. It's $10 extra for the shared line (included on the
primary line), and that is the difference that makes it the more expensive
option; everything else is the same.

The second gives you unlimited In-Network mobile to mobile calling between
the phones on your plan only, and *may* give you nationwide In-Network
calling on the primary line; I say may because I don't remember exactly how
the new rules work. It definitely doesn't give you nationwide In-Network
calling on the second line.

The way you have written it, additional phones get unlimited IN-Network
Calling (calling ANY other Verizon phone) under option 1. Under option 2,
additional phones only get unlimited calling between phones on the Family
Share Plan... NOT all other Verizon phones.

You would indeed be wrong to assume that. The phone being used must have
IN-Network Calling in order to avoid those calls being charged as if they
were calling outside of the network.

All lines get free calling to any Verizon Wireless customer as long as
you are on the Verizon Wireless network (no flashing or solid roaming
indicator, usually a triangle or 'Rm').

All calls are free after 9:00PM and until 5:59AM on the following day
are free (unless you are on full Roaming). Extended Network (Flashing
roam indicator) still counts under the Unlimited Nights and Weekends.
Weekend minute are free from 9:01PM Friday until 5:59AM on Monday. Some
holidays are included under Unlimited Nights and Weekends.

Almost the same as above *however* only the primary line can call any
other Verizon Wireless customer airtime free. Other lines on the account
can call numbers *within the same calling plan* for free, but calls to
Verizon Wireless numbers outside of the plan will be billed at the
regular airtime rate. All lines get Unlimited Nights and Weekends.

Only if the plan supports it. Also, as stated above, you must be on the
Verizon Wireless network for this to work.

Additional information: The roaming rate will be printed in the
contract. This rate applies whenever you see a solid roaming indicator
on the phone. The display also may read "Roaming." This usually happens
only in some rural areas.

Another thing to check is after yov have made yovr best deal and
decision on the plans yov want. See if yovr company or organization
has the benefit of a discovnt for the service. As in the State of New
York we have both a State Employee Discovnt at 19% off the invoice
($59.95 or $49.95 or even $39.95) if yov belong to a vnion they may
also have a discovnt at the same or less rate, check and find ovt.
That extra yovr paying for Unlimited In Network Calling covld be
absorbed by the service discovnt.

Why give Verizon any more than yov have to?

And don't forger about Caller-ID. Your number must be unblocked for
these calls to be considered airtime free. Maybe.

(There have been numerous discussions on whether or not this is an
absolute necessity. Some people have been given an unqualified YES
answer, while others have been told no. Me... I play it safe until I
sees it in writin'.)

It is only an issue on incoming calls. If you place a call, the system
knows who you are and who you are calling, and thus whether the call is
In-Network. On incoming calls, the question is what does it take for the
system to know who is calling you? The caller may be on some primitive
system which doesn't send any kind of caller id and the info simply is
not available. That is the easy case. But if the caller-id info is sent
through the network and is "available," but the "blocked" bit is set to
prevent presentation to the called phone, does that disable In-Network?
It would be REALLY brain-dead if it did, but I suppose it could happen.

My suspicion is that CS is giving the overly conservative answer by
not distinguishing between "not available" and "blocked".
