I recently upgraded my hard disk to a DiamondMax Plus9 Serial ATA drive and have experienced extensive file corruption when used with my Abit NFS-S motherboard. I read that the SATA corruption problem has been fixed in a BIOS update so I downloaded the nf721.exe BIOS update from here:
When I boot into DOS with a boot disk and run the runme.bat file I get the error:
“The programme file’s part number does not match with your system!”
I’m totally confused. I’m absolutely positive I have an NF7-S motherboard and the readme says that the NF7_21.BIN is for the NF7/NF7-S V1.0/1.1. I’m losing files rapidly here and I’m desperate to get the BIOS updated.
If anyone could suggest why I’m getting this error I’d be very grateful.
I think your mobo is version 2.0 which needs different BIOS update (rev.18 not 21)

Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.
You're completely right. Thanks a lot for reminding me. I'm in such a panic about the number of files being corrupted I'm not really thinking straight. I really wish I hadn't have formatted my old hard disk
