What is in this directory? Huge directory, not present in Win 2k.

Probably the installation files from when XP was installed. The installation
goes quicker if it goes from the hard drive rather than the CD.

Hi Sanford,

The C:\i386 folder contains WinXP's installation files and is added at
Windows setup. The files in this folder are accessed when new software
or hardware is added or installed. The folder is also used by System
File
Checker, Windows File Protection, and repairing of the system. So the
best advise is to leave it be.

Correction to my previous post.

The i386 folder contains the WindowsXP installation files and is put
on the hard disk by OEM's, since most of they don't ship a CD with the
systems. Its there for driver support and additional components that
are installed through Add/Remove programs. So the best advise is to
leave it be.
