Versa 2000D - No Power

A friend gave me a Laptop, NEC Versa 2000D Laptop to look at to see if I could determine what is wrong with it. Tried to power it up with the power adapter connected, but system will not power up. In fact the green on/off power light doesn’t even come on. Therefore, I believe it must be power related. Planned to begin with the power pact, but I thought, shouldn't the system at least power up with the power adapter I connected? But it doesn't. So, my question is, any suggestion on what maybe the cause and where else to look at? Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions.

I guess you could see if the power adaptor is in fact putting out power with a volt meter or something.

You are probably out of luck though
It sounds like the motherboard is gone.

:< I'll check the power adapter as you recommend, but I'm afraid it's pointing more and more to the Mb. Now, to find a used replacement for the MB :<. Again, thanks for your input
