Hey,

I need to build a computer for my girlfriend's sister. Its like a house warmning gift. Anyway I don't want to spend a lot so here are some ideas:

ATHLON XP 2600 /333 104.00
Chaintech 7NJL4 70.00
FOXCONN SUPER CASE (BLACK) 37.00
randomn video card 50.00
Kingson 2-256 pc3200 KVR400X64C3AK2/512 100.00

total 361.00

I have a hard drive, and some optical drives already

Any suggestions? Can I do it for cheaper?
Do I really need dual channel?

Thanks

Antec sonata $100
barton 2500+ $90
radeon 9000 pro $60
Soltek NV400-L64 $76
kingston 2700 value ram 512 $83

A bit more but she'll be amazed by how beautiful and fast it is

You can do it cheaper but you'll have to cut on something.
1/2 the memory.
Cheaper procesor.
Cheaper mobo.

Something in speed or quality or quantity has to go to make any significant impact.

For mobo, I would go for Epox 8RDA+

CL2.5 DDR333 is equal to CL3.0 DDR400. But it's cost effective. So get some Kingston PC2700 CL2.5 DDR
