i am building a budget gaming pc for a friend, and i saw this board at newegg. Reviews say it is has powerful as the a7v333 (the board i have) but cheaper. How is the board, is it worth the $58 i am paying for it? I am putting a amd 2100+ into it.

Personally I'd stay away from the Shuttle M/B, they haven't been too high on the performance pole lately, An excellent budget M/B is the MSI KT4VL it will run the processor you want to run, with upgrade possibilities as far as they take the AMD Barton core. You can find it at <A HREF="http://www.directron.com" target="_new">http://www.directron.com</A>which is also an excellent place to do online business, I and my friends have done business with them numerous times, and I and two of my friends are running that same MSI M/B with no problems, its an excellent M/B.

low on performance, price is what i always thought ot shuttle too. However, this partictular board is more or less on par w/ the Soltek 75DRV5, and better then MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU and Abit KR7A-133R (review site is: http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=184&PageID=3)

Toms' own review (http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20020509/index.html) usually had it at 5-6th place out of 18 boards - not bad for it being the cheapest.

Anyway, i'm fine w/ the performance/price aspects of it, i was just wondering about the other stuff for this baord, like if it will blow up on me or what now

The M/B I suggested has the 400 chipset instead of the 333 its more advanced, for about $10.00 more.

like if it will blow up on me or what now
Well no it shouldn't blow up on you, but I wouldn't buy it.

I've built about 4 systems with the AK35GT2 (not R) and I have been quite impressed. I have toyed with it a little bit and they overclock fairly nicely. My only complaint is that the board only supports USB 1.1. Pretty decent six channel audio. It's easily worth the $58. I can't understand why shuttle hasn't been taken more seriously in these forums. The AK31 v3.0 absolutely rocked. It was an overclocking and performance beast and the AK35GT2's aren't far behind. The newer one's are a little more conservative and aren't great performance boards but I haven't tried the nForce 2 board they put out. In all, I've used a couple dozen Shuttle boards on AMD systems (AK31, AK35, AK38, AK39) in the last two years and the only problem I had was a refurb from NewEgg that was DOA. RMA'd it and got another refurb that was fine. I'll keep buying them for the budget systems I build.
