In the windows xp help section - Did You Know ? it states, Whenyou are
connected to internet this area will display links, etc,etc, Would you like
to start the conection wizard.
I have a perminent broadband conection through a cable modem and can view
internet with IE6, so why dont I see any of these links ect.

Click View in IE. Is "Status Bar" checked?

Yes there is a tick nexrt to " Status Bar "
