Ok....need a part I think....
Bought a G85 refurbished 2 years ago. Excellent running printer
connected to my HP. Can't afford a replacement or repairman.
Recently got a "scanner failure" error. It will print and receive
faxes but will not make a copy or fax out. Parts are no longer
supported by HP....Have read that this error message is pretty
popular.
After several conversations, boards, and reading and reading, I think
that my scanner assembly went....maybe only the bulb...
Symptoms beside that error....I seem to remember the light being
brighter when it was turned on. I have unplugged it and let it sit
and then replugged directly to a wall outlet....
The only next step that I heard of was to take it apart and clean all
the mirrors and glass thinking maybe the amount of light reflecting is
sending the error.....
Other than that for a next step, I'd like to replace the bulb if that
is possible and last case, replace whole assembly if I can find one.
Any ideas I missed?....Can I get a bulb?....Can I find a scanner
assembly cheap?
