My grandmother paid my to build her a computer so she can chat online. But she doesn't want me to run 20'-40' of cable around the apartment. So I want to go wireless only for her computer since the cable modem is in my room.

Should I purchase a wireless router? or a wireless access point? Will I be able to replace my Cable modem Time Warner is renting me? or just I stick with their modem and get the wireless AP?

if you don't have a router already, get a wireless router. If you already have one, just get an access point. You won't be able to replace our cable modem no matter which way you go.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
