I have a Pentium 4, 4 gigs ram, and an ATI x800 with recently updated drivers.

Games work PERFECTLY until about 5-10 minutes into play it will just randomly crash and freeze. No error message nothing, I'll have to reboot. It originally did it with FEAR and i thought maybe it was just that game, but now it's doing it wit half life 2: episode 1

Any idea? I'm super frustrated and have been googling this thing to death.

First question: Did everything work until recently, and if so, have you made any changes to the system that may have triggered the instability? Those driver updates may be at fault here.

Second question: Is this just a game-related problem, or have you had other crashes as well? Your system is fairly old, and games can be very taxing, so my other guess would be overheating or a component that's starting to fail from old age.

Can you check your temperatures while gaming? sounds like dust bunnies!
