Best Server Mobo

I'm toying with the idea of building a Linux file server. Any suggestions on mobos, chipsets, and Linux flavors?

Suse and Red Hat make good Linux software. I like SUSE.

What's the server for? If it just for a low volume server you could do well with a used PC for $100 or $200 for most purposes. Put in some backup and some power protection (UPS, not the postal service ) and away you go.
