Hi all,
I'm currently considering upgrading.
Here are my system specs.
ASUS A7A266 mobo
512 Meg DDR ram
AMD Athlon 1 GHZ overclocked 1.333 GHZ
NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra 64 meg video
40 Gig HD 7200 RPM

System was very fast when first built approx. 3 years ago but now seems slow and sluggish. I have never reformatted the Hard Drive and the system has been very stable.
With bus speeds approaching and exceeding 400MHZ (Mine is 266MHZ)I wondered if it wouldn't be better to rebuild rather than upgrade.
Any and all Opinions greatly appreciated.

If it ain't broke don't fix it

Get an Athlon XP 2400+ or 2600+ (266 MHz FSB) and upgrade your graphics card.

They're kind of hard to find but there's one available at <A HREF="http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=120724" target="_new">MonarchComputer</A>.

At 2133 MHz they would need TBred-B. AFAIK, all Socket A Athlon XPs 2400+ and above are TBred-B or Barton.
