my friend has a SiS 745 mobo. Every couple of days, the FSB gets reset to 100. he resets it to 133 and then the same thing happens after a couple of days. The C-MOS battery is fine. He even got a new battery but the problem persists. He has a 1700+ on it. Every other component seems to work fine. Even in Win98, everything works fine.

What cud be the problem for this reset? Cud it be the power supply? i doubt that, but i am not sure.

I saw somethign like this floating around b4 in these posts.
Are you sure there is no jumper on that motherboard that controls or partially controls the settings?

Read the manual?

I am pretty sure he has set the jumpers right. anyways, i'll ask him to re-check that.

The asus 745 boards do this every time they crash. Is his system crashing when he's noy there? It will also do the same thing if you soft boot or reboot during the post. Is he impatient with startup? Does he have a prog in the startup menu that restarts his system. Check in device manager for a driver that hasn't loaded properly. Dont forget the usual suspects for system crashes.

If its the MSI 745 Ultra board there is a bIOS update to fix this issue.
