I just tried to download pictures onto my computer and I did it with a USB
cord connected to my camera. It opened my pictures up in the j drive but i
accidentally hit delete and now they arent in the recycle bin or on my
camera! Can I find them anywhere or are they gone forever?

You can usually recover deleted picture files from the camera's memory
card. Some people have reported good results with

http://www3.telus.net/mikebike/RESTORATION.html
or
PCInspector File Recovery -

I've used PhotoRescue from here:
http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/

It isn't free, but since I do computer repair/tech support/data recovery
for a living, that wasn't an issue. It didn't cost much, anyway.

As a suggestion for the future, buy yourself one of those usb card
readers instead. That way you don't need the camera turned on, using up
its battery. All you have to do is put the memory card into the card
reader and XP will treat it as a removable drive. Then when you
transfer files, use the right-click and drag method and choose "Copy"
and not "Move". Safer that way.
