Hi.

Last night my old 1.4GHz cpu fried on my Abit KG7-RAID mobo.

http://www.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webj...L_NAME=KG7-RAID

And now i want to buy a new cpu for the same mobo i used before ie. KG-7, my question is (as i want a some boost in preformance now that i have to buy a new cpu anyway =)

Can i fit a AMD Athlon XP2400+ Thoroughbred 2000MHz/2.0GHz 256Kb 266MHz 0.13 bulk SocketA on my Abit KG-7-RAID mobo ?

I have (i think) sufficiently air-cooled my box, so some heat shouldnt pose a too big threat...
Whould be happy for someone to help me out in this dilemma!

Thanks

Splendid
Your board uses the amd 761 chipset. Abit has a bios dated mar. 03. You should update to that. While few of the amd chipset boards officially support the xp2400 chip they will run them no problem (ussually, there are always the odd individual exceptions). I would go for it.
