Hi

First of all apologies if this is posted in the wrong newsgroup I am new to
this forum.

Anyway I wonder if someone can help with this:

What I would like to be able to do is create my own voice .wav files that I
can use to replace for instance the start up tune for windows. I only have
the software that comes with Windows XP pro ( and a microphone).

Do I need other software and if so what would you recommend?

If anyone could provide a step by step guide I would be very grateful.

Many Thanks

Chris

Thanks for the quick response Mary.I will try this link.

While I was waiting I found the sound recorder on my comp and I think this
will do the job.

Thanks again

Chris

The Sound Recorder is limited to 60 second recordings. For longer wav
files, use Audacity, it is free:
Audacity (sound file editor, recorder and for connecting to stereo)

Thanks Byte

For the time being I just want short messages (to replace my AOL log on
messages for example), but I will certainly take a look at this software for
the future.

Thanks again for you input - people on these forums are always so helpful

Best wishes

Chris
