I'm trying to set up a wps54gu2 Linksys wireless-g print server on my
network. My net config is:
Linksys wrt54gs broadband router
Linksys wps54gu2 printserver, WAN'd to the router
two wireless PCs with Linksys cards
(signal strength is excellent on all wireless devices)
one wired PC
WinXP home on all PCs (not SP2)
TCP/IP protocol, printserver set to DHCP
Konica Minolta 2300w laser printer - USB
Alps MD5000P printer - parallel
I installed the printserver and configured it from the wired PC. It shows
on the network, can be pinged, and has the right lights on it. I did the
print driver setup, and it set up the printers. In Windows the printers
look okay, with
the appropriate printers using the printserver usb and parallel ports.
The problem is, that when I send a Windows test print to either printer,
nothing happens. The Minolta gives a balloon that says "this document
failed to print", and the queue says "error-printing". The Alps says "the
printer is not responding" with the same queue error. Neither one blinks
its data light to show incoming data.
With the Linksys Bi-Admin Management Utility, the printer status shows
"Online" for both ports, but its diagnostic test print does nothing, gives
no error and does not create a queue entry.
I'm beginning to think this isn't a wireless or networking issue, but a
fault in the printserver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
