FSX Help

I'm trying o get a smoother game play and hopefully the ability to do ultra high on Microsoft flight simulator with about 20fps. However I haven't been able to find anything helpful... Could anyone tell me what sort of PC specs I would need to do that on a windows XP.

FSX is notorious for heavy demands on a CPU.

You would need a quad core CPU (Q6*** / Q8*** / Q9*** or i5/i7)
4gb RAM
260/275 GTX graphics card.

what are your currnt specs?
There are various things that can be changed within the program that can help.
One of the biggest ones that I have found is to turn "aircraft casts shadows on it self" to off.

i have a quadcore q6700 and hd 4850

but game still runs crappy unless i run it extremely low

Pentium 4 3GHz
ATI Radeon 9550 (Prime Suspect)
1.5gb RAM
160GB 7200RPM

FSX kills almost every CPU. So Core2Quad, i5 and i7 will help out the most. If you are using Core2Duo CPU, you need to do some heavy overclocking. And also some good graphic cards like GTX260 or better. The higher the RAM, the better the performance. Some tweaks may also helpful in improving performance of FSX.
If you still stucked, try FS9. It runs 30-60fps with all settings maxed out.

Yes, really. Q6700 runs only at 2.66GHz. Its too slow/crappy for FSX. Maybe some overclock will help.
