lop.com, ilead.itrack, casalemedia, adultfriendfinder etc. now i know all of
these are 'nasties', i have got the full set. i run windows xp sp2. i have
used the following in an attempt to eradicate the beasts; ad-aware, spy=bot
search and destroy, microsoft anti spware beta, i have recently installed
zone labs security firewall and i have norton 2005 anti-virus.
ad=aware and spy-bot give me a clean bill of health as does microsoft anti
spyware and norton but the nasties still return. i also have google toolbar
with pop-up blocker and my messenger service is disabled, so what next?

It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

for expert analysis, not here.**

Download, install, update and run all of the following.


Ewido Security Suite Trial version
http://www.pcbutts1.com/downloads/ewidosetup.exe


If the above does not fix the issue then download Hijack this, run it, save
a copy of the log file and cut and paste it back here to this group so that
I can analyze it. Ignore anyone who tells you to post it elsewhere. I need
to see it not them.

many thanks for the advice but being a relative novice, how the hell do i
cut and paste the log file to the newsgroup? i don't seem to get the option
of paste.

After you scan with hijackthis at the bottom left click on save log. The log
should open in notepad. Click on edit>select all, then click on edit>copy
that will copy the log to the clipboard. Come back to this group, reply the
this message, to paste the log , on your keyboard press the ctrl+v key.

Run the panda online scan. http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
You'll need to install active x if you haven't already. They provide
it for you via a popup window. When you know what you're looking for,
you can use Killbox. If you have VX2 Ceres, good luck and let me know
how you did it if you manage to get rid of it.

problems?

Have hijackthis fix this line
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

This is probably bad, if you don't know what it is then have hijackthis fix
it.

Update all 4 of those spyware programs but don't run them yet. New
definitions came out yesterday.

Next configure Windows to show all files
Do one of the following:
In Windows XP, on the taskbar, click Start > My Computer.
on the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the View tab, uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Then, under the "Hidden
files" folder, click Show hidden files and folders.
If you see a warning message, click Yes.
Click Apply.
Click OK.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
Restart your computer.After hearing your computer beep once during startup,
but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.Instead of Windows loading as
normal, a menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Run all 4 of those programs again plus hijackthis and post another log.
