After failing to resolve cold-boot problems with my present system I've decided to have a go at building a new PC. I think the old mobo ( a A7A266 ) is flaky.

I'm fairly set on getting the following.

Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Athlon XP 3000
DiamondMax9 120Gb SATA150 HDD

and will salvage the following from old system

1Gb Crucial PC2100 DDRAM
WD Caviar JB 80Gb ATA100 HDD
Pioneer A05 DVD-RW
Toshiba DVDROM
Floppy - Sony
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Likely I will obtain some Crucial PC3200 DDRAM sometime in near future, but does this setup look ok ? Anyone have any comments on potential flaws ?

Also, finally. With the arrival of Athlon64 and Prescotts....what future does this system have for upgrading? ( I'm thinking next to none ...)

Oh ... I am thinking of getting a Thermaltake Xaser 3 V2000 case and will be installing an Enermax 550W PSU from old system.

Sounds good. But personally I get a 64bit processor, like the opteron. Or even a pentium 4 HT. But its up to you. Or you could just wait a couple of months and get the next best technology.

Computers don't make errors, humans do.
