First, make sure no cat/dog/baby/women is fooling around your rig when you are flashing :)
Flashing BIOS is pretty easy, just make sure the media you use to flash is good. Perform a scandisk on your hdd or floppy to make sure there is no bad sector which will cause the flashing to fail. Before you do the flash, set your floppy disk to the first booting device no matter what media you are using to flash, and then prepare a MS-DOS bootdisk floppy and copy the awdflash.exe and a 100% working BIOS file (not the same version you are going to update, an older version is recommended). No you have some options to flash the BIOS: 1. using the flash tool (press ALT+F2 during POST); 2. flash from floppy; 3. flash from hdd; flash from bootable CD; 4. use the AsusUpdate to flash in Windows. Either way, make sure your system is stable before you flash (i.e. no overclocking, do not listen to mp3 or do other thing if you are flashing in Windows, etc.) and start to flash the BIOS. If you are so unlucky that your flash fails, don't panick and never press the reset button. Power off your system, insert the MS-DOS bootdisk you made before, if your system can POST, you are lucky and you can use the awdflash.exe and BIOS file to reflash.
Oh, before you do anything, pay a visit to nForcersHQ and search the Asus forum there to see what else you have to know to recover a BIOS dead.
BIOS flashing is pretty safe to do but accident do happen :)

I would use ASUS Update that came with the board. It does it on the web. I've used it for at least a couple of years now, on various ASUS boards, & it's never failed to flash the BIOS correctly. It will write a copy on a floppy for you as well if you like.

Dazzle them with Brilliance, or Baffle them with BS!

I'm not very sure but I think even Asus release new BIOS, they do not warrant for it; if your flashing go bad and your board died, you can't claim the warranty.
