Hi all! I just built a new system with the following specs with an Athlon XP 2600+ on a Gigabyte 7VT600-L motherboard with stock heatsink and fan. I admit the cabling is not first-rate, but I'm getting CPU temperature readings of 60+ with a dual-fan power supply and three case fans (2x back, 1x side). I suspect the sensor is not calibrated correctly, because when I cold boot it, and head straight into BIOS, the CPU temp is already near 50C. Anybody notice this with this mobo or Gigabyte mobo's in general? Thanks!
1. I personally run an Athlon XP 2600+ on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe with stock HSF, no case fan, no dual-fan powersupply, and I rarely hit 60 (according to Asus Probe) even with case closed.
2. The case for the Gigabyte computer included a thermal sensor which displays on an LCD screen on the front. I placed the sensor between the heatsink and the CPU, and pretty darn close to the core I would say, but it only reads close to 45C peak.
