Ok,
I saw a few specials for the Saitek X45, and honestly, that's a sweet looking joystick. I'm considering buying it, but want to know if anyone has had experience with it- how good is the quality?

My frog asked me for a straw...dunno what happened his ass all over the place

no exp with any joystick, sorry. :(
but what is it for? Flight Simulator, Car Races or something else?
the needs differ in function of the utilized games sort.

No experience with it, but it´s goodlooking and turns me on

However while talking about joysticks and stuff, I´ve been considering
to buy a steering wheel for some time now.
Problem is that it feels a little cheezy & fruity to have a such a thing infront of
my computer, if ya know what I mean.

I´m not saying that it is "nerdy" or something (perhaps little), it´s just
that...ehrm...I dunno.

Nah, I´ll just buy the thing and when friends and girls are visiting I just shove it into
the closet or something, it will be my little secret

Honk!, honk!

you'll be surprised, but joysticks work really well on racing games too! I'll be using mine for Il-2 Sturmovik

I have decided to X45 (dad's paying for it b/c I scored highest in the school on 3 final tests- first one to get 100 on the 9th grade math test, scored highest on the french final in the whole school, and even though I just graduated from 9th grade and teachers specficially said not to take chem then b/c it'd be too hard, I did and scored higher than anyone else. Mwahahahah, I love rewards:))

Something about that joystcik that turns me on.......

your right... joysticks ARE good for car racing games too.

maybe not as realistic, but i get excellent control, both in fine steering and quick lock to lock situations.
use my sidewinder pro with need for speed 5.
dont use the forward/back motion, only side to side for steering. acceleration/braking is handled by keys/throttle and gear changes by 2 buttons atop the stick.

Yep, maybe you are right but I´m pretty sure no joystick in the world would have beaten my "Entertainment chair"
I built it a couple of years ago. (I used to smoke pretty much back then)
Well, it never really got finished (one downside of smoking, you never get anything done) but I did manage to make a "prototype"

I took an old chair and then built a "globe" around it using a net with papermachee(spelling).
When you sat down in it, it was completely black(oh really?)

Well, the thought was to put a monitor inside displaying
psychadelic patterns calculated on an old Amiga.
Then you (the "driver" ) were meant to "steer" these
patterns with the help of a keyboard and a joystick.
Yes, I know...far out dude.

Like I said, it never got finished...what I did finish though was putting up 2 speakers in line with the head, a "Star Trek Led Display" in the ceiling and an out take fan(!) for the smoke, otherwise you would choke in there!

I also put up a strobe inside that I connected to the line outs on my stereo (downside with this was that you had to put the volume up real loud for a good effect)
One of the luxuries was that you could alter the fanspeed
with help of an old modeltrain transformator(english?),
nice function if it got to "busy" in there.

If you like IL2 Sturmovik ( I have it too it's awesome) stop by www.hitechcreations.com sometime and download aces high .. you can play it online free the first 2 weeks.. it has great graphics and you play the toughest enemey of all .. other people. If you try it my radio handle ( you can talk to others playing the game) is Hg and I fly on the Rooks country for the Sea Serpent squad ( oh yeah I been using a M$ precision pro stick for about 5 years)
