I have a question as to how to get rid of the cyclic redundancy check error when installing the Sims 3 ! ?

I had the same problem and finally figured it out.
You have to "manually" uninstall the game because when you uninstall the regular way it leaves tidbits in your registry. EASIMS.custhelp.com has complete directions to manually uninstall. It involves going into your registry which is easy if you're careful.
 
The cyclic redundancy check, or "CRC" error, indicates a bad spot on your media. The fact that you're seeing it when you try to copy a file indicates that the bad spot may be within the file itself.

If this is happening on a lot optical media, can also be a failing drive.
