Can someone please help me, this morning when I turned on my computer a file
folder that I have stored in icons not using came back on my computer with a
folder picture of a .jep photo I had in there and also in there is a .dat
file and you cannot open because it is used by operating system could damage
system. Don't know what to do, if I should send it to My Documents or what?
Don't want to leave this folder on my icon screen. Any help is appreciated.

It may only be stray piece of a failed email message. I've seen email attachments show up as .dat when the email system or the originator's system had a problem. Is it possible you extracted or saved such an attachment to your desktop?

I suggest you delete that file, let it sit in Recycle Bin for a few days, and use your system as you ordinarily do.

..DAT files may be text, and those you can open with Notepad.
