Hey I've got a question. I'd really like to play Doom III on max detail settings. The problem is my spec:

1.2 ghz Athlon
256MB SDRAM
64MB GeForce 2 Pro

So to solve the problem I want to get a Radeon 9800 PRO.
Will DOOM III play great on max detail with that card or do I need to upgrade my other components?

If possible I would just like to get away with updating the gfx card to a 9800.

Post this in the cpu/grafix firum and you'll get better replies. Anyways yea the Current rig will probably be a bit of a bottleneck esp the Sd RAM

The SDRAM will hurt you BADLY. Not only do you not have a lot of it, but it's as slow as molasses in Alaska.

Save your money when Doom III is released find out what people have to say about the game and thier hardware on the forums. Then make your decision about what you want to upgrade at that time.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm gonna sit it out and wait for it to be released.

Yeah, wait. Odds are you'll have to replace your CPU, memory, and video card but there's no point doing or even worrying about it now since doom is most likely coming out in November.
