 Falling down stairs saves time

Reply to Chuck232

(This isn't in the CPU forum right?)

Doesn't that one support higher then 1.85V Vcores nativly?

But yes I did my mobo mod... only instead of a resistor I used a 50k Pot-meter, I also read on another website that you could bypass the VCore voltage limiter with another pot-meter placed on another pin of the V-controlling chip... so far the highest VCore I got was 2.15V... but I read somewhere that someone else reached 2.4V with his mobo.

no it doesn't. the maximum of the vCore voltage you can reach is 1.85 volt thus my comment about the needed mb mod.

FSB: IMhz increments up to 250 FSB.
CPU can be set from 1.10v to 1.85v and the RAM 2.55v to 2.85v.
All this is done in the bios, higher CPU voltage would have been welcome.
you can also set the I/O from 3.3v to 3.65v.

i have seen an overclocking test with 200 up to 225Mhz FSB with 512MB of Corsair XMS memory & an XP processor. (450Mhz DDR memory!)
& however the mb stays stable. for me this board is a pure overclocker's motherboard. i hope i might make a good OC'ing with.

here are the specs:

2.15v for the vCore is fine. i have seen from some overclocking tests that you can use a voltage a bit above round 2.21v but i am not sure the cpu would support a 2.4v.

Yeah, I was surprised when I read that... I tought that about 2.25V was the max you could go. Well I'm not going to go any higher then 2.15V to be safe.

Nice board!
Did you already unlocked your CPU and tested how high you could get the FSB? IMO a FSB of 225(450) MHz is really impressive.

Well that board looks awsome... my next board is going to be an Abit again.
That Vcore mod is very simple, just connect a wire with PIN7 of the HIP6301 voltage controller, place a pot-meter on it and connect the other end to a ground (ie. the fan-ground which I did).
And here is a good FAQ about this board, unfortaintly it is still under construction:

interesting link. especially for the 9K_2.32 Unofficial Beta BIOS&release.

about the mod, which resistor should i use to have a round 2.2v vCore?

moreover i have found a mod but i didn't understand that:
"To overcome the OVP, attached another 47Kohms variable resistor between Pin 10 VSEN to ground."
have you an idea about the meaning of "OVP"?

if you know you don't know, the way could be more easy ...

Reply to Anonymous

Well IMO it is best to use a variable resistor so you can change the VCore to whatever you like, you will need 47k Pot-meter for this.

I think that OVP stands for OverVoltage Protection, which will shutdown your mobo when it reaches the 2.15V. If you attach a 47k Pot-meter to that pin 10 and then attach the other end to a ground you can tweak this protection and get voltages above 2.15V. (I also did that mod to my mobo)

if this mod is not applied, setting the vCore to 2.2v for instance reboots the comp?

Well if it is set and then restarted your comp will not start. Otherwise it will shutdown and auto-shutdown immediatly after boot-up till the VCore is lowered.

thanks.
this would be helpful during my mod to have yet the possibility to reboot my comp & restarting my system.
