Hiya all,

I am looking to update some of my computer hardware, mainly my CPU, Motherboard and Simms. After reading all the info about simms, motherboards ect i got way more confused than i allready was :)

I am a Hardcore gamer and i need to update my stuff. I have an Ati radeon 9700pro Video and look for the upgrades stated above. I was thinking about the Asus p4c800 e deluxe or the MSI neo-lsr or neo-fis2r, Gigabyte ga-8jnxp. ALso i would have an minimun CPU of 3.0 gig. (boards i named are intel based i think, unless i should stick with amd to get best game performance)

So anyone has some experience what a good setup will be to buy an Motherboard, CPU and Simms.

Thanks in advance

Well, to put it bluntly, we need to know a price range in order to give you more detailed suggestions. As a rule (excepting the new AMD 64), an AMD system is going to be considerably cheaper (per performance ratio). Many sites are available to browse through and get some side by side comparisons. I'm very partial to a local shop here in San Diego, www.chipsandmemory.com, which ironically doesn't do online orders, but consistantly has prices just barely above what you would find on Pricewatch. For an up to the day price listing click Here.

After checking out some more sites i am basicly thinking of buying this stuff:

MSI socket 478 Neo-Fis2r
Intel P4 2.80c Ghz
1 gig (2x 512mb) kingston dual mem modules ddr400 pc3200 cl3

Any one think this is a nice upgrade or have an better suggestion.

Thanks

I think you mean with Ocing (overclocking), not sure how to do it besides that the bios does it automaticly. Any advice about Ocing would be appriciated.

Btw after talking and searching more i will go for the 1 gig dual mode corsair ddr400 pc3200 cl2.0 simms, heard they way better/stable compared too kingston. Or should i overclock simms and buy the pc3700 or pc4000 simms. Big price diff between those.

Shopping for a new mobo is tough there are so many to choose
from. I myself would look for a stable mother board that
has lots of room for exspantion for future prossesor support ect.I my self am thinking of buying a new mobo with
ddr .I have system with rdram and am going to compare the ddr to rdram .I think but have not decided yet. Rdram is not to popular these days dut is still the fastes mem out there, but very expensive.Good luck and hope you find what your looking for.
