I have been having some problems trying to get my dual ddr memory to work with my mobo. I have samsung dual ddr 400mhz pc3200. I have them in slots 1 & 3 of the mobo. When I boot my system, it says that the memory freq is at 166mhz; shouldn't it be at 400mhz, since the memory is at 400mhz (for dual, and single is at 200mhz i believe). My processor is the athlon 3000+, if that has any impact on it. I appreciate any help.
The POST will tell you the memory frequency you set for your RAM. If you set the mem freq to 100% it will run at same value as the FSB. I assume your 3000+ is 333FSB, therefore 333MHz = 166MHzx2. So your RAM will be default to 166MHz (the same, 166x2=333MHz). This has nothing to do with single or dual channel. The channel setup is affecting the memory bandwidth, not freq. In dual channel setup you'll get your memory bandwidth double (theoritically). If you want to run your RAM at stock, i.e. DDR400 (200MHzx2), you have to overclock your CPU to 200MHz FSB.
Me fail English? That's Unpossible!
