MB Recommendations

Well, I'm looking at a new MB and thought the Gigabyte GA-8S648FX-L looked pretty decent, especially in performance, but it's missing a S-ATA controller, and I really want to grab a WD Raptor. So I'm left trying to figure out what MB I can get and not break the bank. I'm ona budget, and the price of the Gigabyte was good, the Abit VI7 is comparably priced as well. Any suggestions on how good the VI7 is, or what other MBs I should look at? Thanks in advance.

One thread over is similar.
I'm also shopping around & reading as much as possible. Seems to be you can't go wrong with Abit (can do a lot of overclocking tweaks) or Asus.
