my friend got an is7 and 2.4c. it was running ok, although he got some cpu malfunction error at the beggining (:/) but if you pressed continue it worked. He opened it up to check something, and did not change anything, but when he turned it back on, there was an error saying his keynoard was not reconginzed?? What is up with this, it is plugged in fine to the ps/2 keyboard port.

What operating system? What's the rest of the specs for the computer? It takes more info to comment a fix on that.

The PS2_PWR1 jumper on the top right corner of the board probably fell out. It falls out very easily; and it's a common problem among many IS7 users.

If the yellow jumper cap isn't on the PS2_PWR1, check the bottom of the case for the yellow jumper cap. If you can't find it, just get another jumper and place it on the PS2_PWR1.

well being that it is a problem during the post, there is not reason i think the os would make a difference. It is before the nt bootloader loads (winxp home). But it is an is7, 2.4c, saphire r9600p 2x256 corsair valueram 3200, an an sata seagate barracude 80 gig.

But thanks about that tip about the jumper. That sounds very likely, bc he was messing around up there with the proc hsf.
