recently (2 weeks ago) I bought a NEC ND-1300A. On my old Mobo it worked fine ( Aopen AK73Pro(A) ). 2 days ago I went out to buy an ASUS A7N8X-X Mobo, AMD 2700+ and 512MB 333 RAM.
Now here comes my problem...
My NEC refuses to burn or read DVD discs. When I put in an original DVD I get the message to put a good disc in the drive. When I put in an DVD+R (I tryed various brands, from Princo to TDK to Philips), it just won't recognize the disc. When I put a normal CD in the NEC it just reads the disc fine. When I put in a CD-R the disc is also not recognized, it wont burn in Windows, Nero, Alcohol etc.
I also flashed the firmware of the NEc to the newest version (1.08) and I tryed some of herrie's firmware's but all didn't work...
Check that device manager recognizes the drive, that your ide drivers are not in conflict, that the ide cables are not kinked or damaged, and that your voltage rails are not fluctuating too much, and are within tolerences.
Of course, I checked all that. I even try-ed a good IDE cable (of my working system), and still no luck. The system has a 450W power supply, so I guess it;'s save to say everything has enough power... Thanks for the reply anyway. Any1 else?
Try using M$ generic IDE driver, you only lose ATA133 support for using M$ driver.
And double check the master/slave setting (both on your drive and in bIOS) if you haven't done so.
Me fail English? That's Unpossible!
