Forum Old Man/Woman's Club : Other So long and thanks for all the fish

Well, I've decided to leave THG. There are several reasons for this, not the least of which being that Fredi simply doesn't have enough control over the forum. I don't think that's any fault of his, I know he cares about the forum. Rather, he's just another overworked (and most likely underpaid) nerd in the world of computers, probably like many of us.

Anyhow, I'll still answer any emails, PMs, whatever, so you can still get a hold of me if you want. I'll still be around HardOCP's forums, and probably start posting regularly at Anandtech. If the forum changes for the better, I'm not against coming back. I'll keep an eye open. So, in Intel_Inside style, here are some parting words for various members, in alphabetical order:

AMD_Man: Good luck with the P4 system, and RDRAM is still better than DDR

AmdMELTDOWN: I've never liked you, but you've made some funny comments and several times made me really stop and think. But that doesn't begin to make up for the rest of your downfalls, so I can't say I'll miss you.

ath0mps0: Too bad you're not around much anymore, I hope your wife is doing better.

Bum_JCRules: You know more about memory that I ever will, maybe you should take over that FAQ.

camieabz: Thanks for the rousing game of iSketch, you'll also have to share with me the ancient Scottish secrets of not getting a hangover. Good luck with your Cisco certification.

Crashman: You're one of the two members of this forum that I really respect, you've been an invaluable source of information. Maybe now that I'm gone, you'll be able to pass me in postcount

dhlucke: Thanks for keeping up The List, too bad you're on vacation right now. Good luck with the job of Forum Cop, I hope you don't have to get too many people banned.

Eden: You've come here with an open mind and willing to learn. For that I respect you greatly.

FUGGER: Too bad you're so close-minded, you've given some great insight at certain times.

gal128: You're new, but you've had better quality posts than most of the regulars, too bad I won't be around to see you get the title(s) you deserve.

GoSharks: It's very refreshing to see someone giving advice first, and their company's website second. You've helped a ton of people in the monitor forums, thanks.

juin: Too bad nobody can understand you, you usually have something worthwhile to say.

Labdog/mfud/corsair3200/whatever: Seek help.

LHGPoobaa: Say bye to your hamster for me, it's been nice having someone else around that knows when to be serious and when to have fun.

Matisaro: Yes, you're biased. Get over it, nobody respects you less because of it. We still have to get together sometime, you shouldhave my cell phone number, give me a call.

scamtron: Looks like you're the only one left with a color name and/or custom title. It's a big responsibility, but I think you'll be ok

slvr_phoenix: You've given me a lot to think about, and are one of the few people that never blindly accept what people say. Thanks for that.

Spud/Spuddy/Spudmuffin: You're an ass, and I was glad to see you banned, but you've always been cool on Messenger, I'm sure we'll stay in touch.

Toejam31: You're the other of the two forum members I respect the most. Too bad the majority of people will never know how much effort you've put into helping them out, but I'm very grateful.

xxsk8er101xx: I've never liked you, and I don't expect that to change. But you've been more tolerable lately, keep it up.

I'm sure I've forgotten plenty of people, so I'll update this list as needed. In case anyone is interested, this is my 13,879th post

Well, cya around everyone!

Are you kidding again? I remember some time ago, you said you were gonna leave, but then didn't? If you really are, we'll all miss you. You've been a great inspiration to a lot of us, with your overclocked P4. But not only that, people look up to you and trust you and your opinions. We'll really be losing such a great member!

Good luck in the other forums!

P.S. I think you forgot about me in that list...

 Falling down stairs saves time

No, I'm not kidding. That was an April Fool's joke and it was pretty obvious.

BTW, I'll monitor this thread closely over the next couple days and reply to any questions/comments people may have.

I don't know what to say man, I mean I know the places are filled with some bad people, but by doing so you're letting them win, and may encourage others to leave! Please don't do that please, you're one of those that kept patience at the worst times, and have been respected by almost anyone! I beg you to reconsider, this place has been my sanctuary, and I am glad that you don't have bad things to say about me, I thought I was annoying at most times... At least we tied things up the right way if you're gone for good. But I hope you reconsider, I don't think anybody wants you gone...

I have watched you change since you started posting here and you don't seem to be having as much fun. I have followed this site for quite a while and it is not doing well. There are posters here that ignore the rude comments and continue to try and help people who come here asking for opinions and guidance. I respect these members immensely. It is hard moving on and I understand.
I have considered it myself but I enjoy some people here and will stay for a while and see what happens. I am also a
member of numerous forums, some you would have no interest in. I will see you around and wish you the best of everything.

Yep, I agree with Oldbear...the "spirit" of this forum
has been somewhat muffled the last couples of months.

I pollute the forums sometimes, I know that...but I try not
to step on anyones feet or insult people.
Most people here probably think of me as a wack swede
or something like that...it´s ok, I can take that.
I am a wack swede

Sometimes things I write might come out wrong, mainly because I´m not
as skilled in the english language as I wish I were and because I often
just hit the reply button without re-reading my posts. (I am a lazy fart)
However, if you feel insulted or stepped on by something I wrote,
think like this:
Almost everything I say sounds as if its coming from Homer Simpson or
the Monthy Python party...well, that´s probably the most correct way
to describe me if you would talk to me in real life and with that I want
to say that I really don´t mean to insult people even if it might look like it
in text form

I don´t have any "special bonds" with you fatty and rarely talked to you, but
I do respect you for who you are, always a down to earth person helping
people out if they ask for it. (I´m sure you help out even if they don´t also  )

Well, before it gets too cheezy: Good luck to you and live & prosper, I´ll miss the green color.

OldBear: What other forums are you a member of?

tomsmart: I was wondering if anyone would catch the reference. Should've known it'd be a Brit

Jake75: Don't worry, you don't pollute the forums nearly as much as some people

This can't be...
You're one of the most important and respected members of this forum and you can be a great example for new members. I know that this forum is going downwards last months (half year) and I'm still surprised Fredi doesn't do anything against it, the reputation is going down and down.
And then it is very sad that one of the people that always tried to keep the forum up high leaves.

I hope you will post here sometimes... otherwise cya.

No, im not.

The next cpu I buy will prolly be a p4, unless the hammer really kicks ass(and it prolly will).

I have up till the northwood release(and tbred flop) genuinely believed the amd processor to be a better value, not because of fanboy bias, but because of sound logic and the knowledge to ignore intel fanboy fud.

How can I be biased when I reccomend p4 systems all the time lately?

glad I am not the only one that noticed that,

but we all have an opinion.

Mat, if I believe that I am "X" and <i>majority </i>thinks that I am "R". Then I have to think about if, If I am just stubborn in my pride.

EDIT: I forgot that I am in America and the term "everyone" is usually understood as "100%", should I refraze it as "majority".

I have never been in a position of being the only one on the side of ANYTHING in this forum, even my tbred prediction thread had people who agreed.

I come off as biased to you because you disagree with many of my points, biased is having a predetermination on judgement, and failing to listen to contrary points.

I dare either one of you to find a thread in which I completely ignored counterpoints and did not justify my stand 100%.

not agreed.
we mustn't see ourself in function of the view & the point of view of the others. we only have to make an effort to make ourself more understandable (if this is the issue) or to try to take in consideration the thoughts of the others.

Mat, I have edited my post for a more correct perception of what I was trying to say.

What I have learned in life when dealing with people, is that- when my ways are agains the majority (and in my own theory and reasonings I am corret), it is still better to admit that I was wrong because you can hurt people feelings, their trust, and in the process ruin your reputation,

I understand thats not always the case, but as a genaral rule.

Ps, the other day my wife has made a big deal out of a small thing , but I was right (and I knew it),
but instead of proving my point, I just appologized to her, and took the blame.
Right now she loves me more and appologizing to me for making it a big deal.

Ok, I challenge someone to find a time when I was in the minority and refused to listen to counterpoints.

I have accepted I was wrong on several occasions, in all my noteworthy debates on this forum, I have been in the majority.

The teaching kids debate, it was the whole thread versus 2 or 3

The fugger is a liar thread, it was the whole thread versus fugger

The tbred prediction thread, I was wrong on my prediction but the thread was asking for reasons why not, to expand my ideas was the intent of that thread.

So how would me being x have any bearing is all I wanna know.

I started off in the Graphics section, then expanded to the CPU section. Then I came here (others) and got scared and didn't come back for a while. Then I went to overclocking CPUs and 3D chips. Then I came back here and stayed and then went to games. Now I'm starting to venture into the mobo & chipset section.

I joined on March 25th. Now it's June 28th. That's about 3 months. I'm practically still a n00b...
