I'm going to buy an MSI K7N2 Delta mainboard with a xp2500 barton processor, which runs at 333mhz fsb. Do I buy pc2700 ram which runs at the same speed as the processor or go for the faster pc3100 ram. Thanks.

Nforce2 Delta Motherboards run at 333/400fsb with dual channel ddr up to pc3200 and as low as pc1600. If you buy the xp2500+ which is a 333fsb then go for the PC2700 matched pair memory from Kingston or Corsair, this is better for the dual channel memory operation.

If you want to run that puppy at 2.2 gigs, get the pc3200. That chip does not come with any real set multipliers, and can quite often handle "3200+" speeds if you have the faster memory. I dont really think of this as overclocking, as it is all done in bios, and so long as you keep an eye on temps during the initial setup, can be done without hindering the chips life expectancy.

endyen,
I'm right in the midst of deciding which ram to get for new cpu/mobo (amd 2500 barton and NF2 board). Can you explain in more detail or point out where I can read something on this. What exactly does one do in the bios? If it seems reasonable I'll go for the PC3200
Thanks,
