Ok, last question (I hope)

Sorry for the flurry of questions about builds, I've been running through
different ideas lately and I've been changing my mind constantly... Here's
my latest thought: Smiter.

On my main accounts, I don't have a paladin anymore (my zealadin died of old
age). So I figure, maybe I should make a new pally. I've heard that
smiters can be good for the clone/uber3, but I'm not really sure how to make
one.

Obviously, max smite and holy shield. Beyond that... does fanaticism help
smite? What weapon do I want? Which shield? I've heard that Dracula's
gloves are uber for a smiter, but of course I don't have any. I have a
stormshield, is that good for smiting?

I know this is a longshot because I'm not exactly a regular (poster) around
here, but is there anyone out there (in uswest sc nonladder) who has a spare
pair of dracs or other worthless/decent/great/excellent smiter gear they'd
be willing to part with? I don't have a whole lot to trade, esp. not runes.

Yes, in fact it's essential.

Popular smiter weapons:Stormlash, Astreon's Iron Ward, Fleshripper, Crescent
Moon, Lacerator.

Herald of Zakarum, eventually to be upgraded. If not that, any other elite
pally shield. Exile or Spirit runeworded elite pally shields.

Smite doesn't leech, so unless you have Exile, Drac's are really important.

Not really, no.

What mods of the weapon affect smite? I assume it's not the damage...

Side question: since you don't leech, how do you keep the mana up? Drink
lots of pots? +mana per kill? %damage to mana? something else entierly?

Drat. I guess I'll have to look into getting an exile then, as I'll be
playing nonladder so no chance to upgrade a HoZ (if I even had one)

Oh, and does anyone have any idea what the going rate for Drac's or an Exile
on UsWest SC nonladder is? are these things that can be had for large
numbers of pgems, or am I going to have to find some high runes (what's a
high rune anyway, how high is "high")


Oh, and since exile self repairs, would it work ok in an etherial shield, or
would a smiter damage it too quickly?

Crushing Blow, Open Wounds, Chance to Cast on Striking, AND the +damage mod,
but ONLY the +damage mod on Astreon's Iron Ward, Redeemer, and Stonecrusher.
You can leech with Lifetap, plain leech doesn't work.

Smite costs 2 mana regardless of level, so even with a small mana pool it
regens about as quickly as you lose it. That said however, pure smite is not
a real PvM build, most PvM smiters will zeal to get life/mana back with
leech.

A non-upped HoZ is fine, and would be a lot easier to get than an Exile.

Dracs probably, they're not that high valie.

High runes are usually considered Ist and Up. And since Exile requires THREE
high runes(Vex, Ist, Ohm) to make, you won't get it for anything less.

Yeah, in fact, it's preferred in an ethereal shield. Usually in an elite
pally shield with either high +resists as an inherent shield mod.
