downloading files

First i would like to thank the people who help on this site.

The new problem i have is when i download file on my XP home SP1 516kb
broadband with new filters i get a error message

the exe you are attemping to run is corrupted. please obtain a new copy and
VERIFY IT's INTEGRITY

i know how to download but how can i verify the file

Most files you cannot do this with. If you downloaded it from a known good
site (the manufacturer's site), saved it to disk and then ran it (preferred
method of getting things from the Internet) and it fails - either your
computer or the file is FUBAR.

Hi,

To verify the file you would use a CRC utility (easily found on a google
search), but it's kind of pointless as you have no way to repair it if it is
corrupt. Delete the downloaded file and clear your temp folders, then
download it again (use 'save', do not open or run the file from the download
location).
