I was trying to make a backup copy of a cd-rom and WinXP and Nero both say the disc only has 598MB on it. When I actually begin the back up, the size mushrooms to over 1 GIG! What's happening?

I know enuff to be dangerous.

How are you going about making the backup? Nero Image Recorder? Windows backup utility? somethin else?
Have you let it finish the backup to see how big it actually gets?
If you don't mind me asking what exactly is the disc? Maybe windows and nero arn't seeing it correctly bec it is a crazy disc :)

Eidos had a copy-protection scheme that did just that... the CD-ROM seemed like you average, every-day CD-ROM until you tried to copy it. Then, the disc magically appeared to blow up to 1 or even 2 gigs.

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.

The disk is a corporate edition of Office Pro 2003. I was trying at first to just copy the disc to my HDD and then burn to a blank. No go. Then I tried to copy direct from cd to cd. No go.
I haven't tried Nero disc image or back it up.

I know enuff to be dangerous.
