Built this off www.newegg.com can out a little over $650 but that also includes overnight shipping to CA from NJ lol
so if you live anywhere closer to NJ then CA ( which woudn't suprise me the shipping would be alot less)

Too bad i live in ASIA... :)
and regarding latest games, how on earth can CS be counted as latest, i want it to support upcoming games like doom3 or HL2.(maybe not with the best frame rate).
And i mean the whole rig...

ithian1,
Thanks for your reply, but where is the processor...

Should i chose an AMD system (XP 2500+, A7n8x normal) or a pentium system (P42.4c,P4P800) ?
Suggestions welcomed.

I never had any overclocking experience before, but i'll try...(i hope it wont blow up, scaarry)

could these work?

AMD 2500+ or intel 2.4c
A7n8x 8x non deluxe / p4p800
ti4200 128mb 8x
hyperX 512mb (2x256)
western 40gb 8mb buffer
typical taiwanese ATX ,god i'm so afraid this thing will blow up :)
cooler master aero 7

around $593 for AMD, $625 for intel specs

In my opinion, scrap the HyperX and make do with higher latency RAM, and either increase RAM space or upgrade the vid card to an ATI with DX9.0 for the prettier graphics.

A warning, a friend of mine bought 2*256 433MHz HyperX to run dual channel at 400MHz. It is completely unstable in his p4p800 board. I would say buy a matched pair of RAM instead.

PS - you WILL notice the diff b/w 512mb and 1024MB. at least, i did. but I run CAD software for uni...

EDIT: If ur going to overclock, get a hefty heatsink. The dinky little Athlon heatsinks don't survive well - I'm in Oz and my old 1800+ was running at 65 degrees when overclocked to 1610MHz (1900+ speeds). I'd imagine that it could be as bad or worse, depending on ur location in Asia.

Athlon XP 2400+ @ 2160 180 FSB
GF4 Ti4200 @ 275/575
GA-7N400Pro2
1GiG Kingston PC3200 @ 432MHz (Dual Channel)

Thank you so much for your suggestions!

Do i need a good HSF should i choose the P4 specs, i might wanna overclock it...

BTW
How big can the difference be between CL2 and CL 3,
Have you guys ever used 256MB PC3200 Kingston value ram CL3, are they good??
i wanna replace hyperx with something cheaper to purchase ATI 9600 PRO.

(Waht ever you do, do not buy Thermaltake HSFs!)
Why not - granted the Volcano 7+ does sound like a jet taking off in a hurricane  , but it cools well....Possibly not the best coolers out there, but certainly not the worst.

I delibrately left out Corsair BTW
Any reason why? I've not known any problems since the early LL stuff not booting on nforce2 DC mobos, but they've since sorted that out. I have 512Mb Corsair PC3200LL and I couldn't be happier with it.

Agree that Low Latency isn't as important for P4 systems as it is for AMD ones though.
