Are there any tools with XP Home Edition that will search for duplicate
files?

Start > Search and sort the results by file name. Otherwise you'll need to
purchase third party software.

Do bear in mind that the mere fact that a file exists in duplicate (or even
more than that) does not mean that the extra copies are unnecessary.

Hi,

Why? Many system files are duplicated, and it is important to leave them in
place. What are you trying to accomplish?

You may use NoClone to seach and remove duplicates. It is true
Byte-by-Byte comparison and search duplicate file contents regardless
of file name.
