Well run the program called internat.exe and you can set all language lay-outs, including the keyboard lay-out.
I have never had problems with keyboard lay-outs, but a friend of my that also uses XP also had similair problems that the QWERTY-lay-out (English lay-out) switched to the Dutch lay-out (which is almost never used because there aren't many keyboards that have that lay-out). So it could be an Windows XP problem.
well ive got an Australian keyboard, assembled in thailand, constructed in china, with users manual made from indonesian rainforest wood, printed in America, translated from Japanese to English by a Korean rice husker!

its also a very old and heavy keyboard. nice to use.
being as old as it is it uses the obselete 'big fat' PS2 port. so ive got a fat ps2 to ps2 connector and was thinking of getting another conenctor so i would have fat ps2 -> ps2 -> usb
unfortunately my system has gone bigtime.
read my post in the motherboard forum for details

For the "PC Clone" there were two versions, the Din 5 and the PS/2 The Din 5 was also called "AT". IBM also had a flat one that looked kind of like a network connection in the early days, but it was never to my knowledge used on anything but old IBM's. A few terminals also had proprietary keyboard interfaces. I'm not sure what was used for the Commodores or Ataris. For the PC clone it's always been AT or PS/2.
At least half of all problems are caused by an insufficient power supply!
BTW, APPLE used the same connector as S-Video, I've actually used Apple keyboard cables as S-Video cables. Don't feel like looking up the connector name on that.

i knew those heavy ps2 keyboards (iron made). i have also one left somewhere. it still works but it hasn't all the last window keys. this is why i bought another one.
for those keyboards you need an adapter AT - PS2 - USB. maybe a bit fat.
if you know you don't know, the way could be more easy ...
i have searched this patch but i didn't find it. i have only found some issues related to MS IntelliType Pro 1.0, MS Internet Keyboard 1.0, MS Internet Keyboard Pro 1.0, MS Natural Keyboard Pro 1.0 (last microsoft keyboards) but mine is an older one (azerty 102 keys). moreover when this error occurs that seems to be all over the system. since i input something by the keyboard (from IE, word or whatsoever) a 'A' becomes 'Q' & so on (my azerty keyboard becomes a qwerty one) & that randomly. that really p*ss me off.
not for this kind of problem. you need to search on the Microsoft Knowledge Database for specific issues like that. moreover windows update manages generally microsoft softwares pb (eg IE, Office, winXP/Win2000 security, OS related) but not hardware related issues. (IIRC)
