For the first time, I am working on building my own gaming computer. My only limitation is my budget ($1300-$1500). Can anyone comment on my current system? The specs are below.

Case- CHIEFTEC Server Chasis Model DX-01BD- IBM Black w/
Two Case Fans

Power Supply- Enermax EG365P-VE. 350W

Mother Board- Gigabyte GA-7VRXP VIA KT333 5P1A3D RAID LAN

CPU- AMD Athlon XP 2000+/266 FSB

RAM- Corsair memory. 2700CX2H C2 256MB PC2700 DDR RAM 333 MHz- OEM

Hard Drive- WD Western Digital "Special Edition" 80GB 7200PM

Video Card- Gainward/Cardexpert G4 Ti4200, 4ns, 128 MB DDR

Monitor- NEC/MITSUBISHI MultiSync FE950+ 19" (WHITE) Flat Screen MONITOR

Is this configuration going to get the most out of all the components? Please help by posting suggestions. Remember, this is a gaming computer and I have a relatively tight budget. Thanx

Looks good to me. I just upgraded to the same mobo, XP 1800+, 512 MB of PC2700 samsung ram, same hard drive, but I kept my GF2 GTS.

Make sure you budget in a sound card as well.

I've heard about a lot of problems with the GigaByte GA-7VRXP... You probably want 512MB of Samsung PC2700 for $150 at newegg.com. Samsung memory is very good and Corsair RAM is merely handpicked Samsung sold at a higher price.

Looks good.
But here in Holland those Gainward cards are rather expensive so if it is the same where you live you might want to choose a cheaper brand.

if your budget is limited, overclock your comp. its cheaper & improves games performances.

Get the GeForce4 Ti 4600!!!! I have it it is well worth the money!!!

Also, what kind of speakers were you planning on getting?

WTF? You you just kidding? a Ti4200 is the best value with the Ti4400 slightly behind, the Ti4600 is about half the galaxy away in terms of cost/performance.

maybe the Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 5700 or the Creative Labs PlayWorks DTT3500 Digital.

another possibility would be an Audigy and a Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 5300.

Then I want to know how much you paid for that card... those things are so expensive... getting a Ti4200 or 4400 (if you have some more money) and then OC'ing it to Ti4600 speeds is the best you can do.
