Why is there unreadable text buttons?!?

I downloaded a game from bittorrent recently, I then extracted the files like I normally do... but when I open (what I think to be) the installation window for the game there are random letters for what the text should be in the button bubble things. Stuff like: fSfgf<fofXf^[fYIfZfbfgfAfbfv its just driving me nuts... I want to play this game dammit... NEED HELP!!

That is the kind of thing that happens when you dont but the stuff.

It is also a good possibility that you could get a pretty nasty virus as well.
